Welcome to the home of Secure Net (Öruggt Net in Icelandic). We specialize in helping Icelandic companies strengthen their cybersecurity through advice, education, and preventive work. We are firm believers that prevention is the best defense; therefore, we like to focus on that. As a quote attributed to Ben Franklin says, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” We also like to focus on helping you get the most out of your existing setup rather than just selling you something new.
What do we do?
We advise, educate, and train employees of all levels on everything related to computer security. Whether you need software or hardware related to cybersecurity, we’ve got you covered. If you need any training or advice, we can provide that, too. Much of the software in our catalog is available as a low-cost subscription. Cybersecurity Training
We offer three different cybersecurity courses for different groups. Our introductory course is designed for the general public or the average company employee. As the name suggests, it covers the basics of cybersecurity. A Vulnerability Management course is for IT professionals who seek knowledge in vulnerability management and other preventative cybersecurity issues. The course for business managers is intended for managers and those who want to better understand cybersecurity without getting lost in details. Check out the available courses.
Cybersecurity Consulting
We advise companies and individuals on all matters relating to cybersecurity and assist in implementation. We assist with audits, feedback, and implementation of security plans, design processes, set up vulnerability management, manage training, and much more. If your company falls under NIS2 regulations, we can help with that.
Virtual CISO Service
Cybersecurity expertise on-call
Don’t have the budget or staff for a full-time CISO. Let us take on the CISO role for you on a part-time, long-term contract basis. We customize this service to fit your needs. Help with prioritization and analysis, and just be available for questions, just to name a few ideas.

Are you concerned about the requirements from NIS-2? Or maybe don’t know what it is? Are you seeking certification from PCI-DSS, ISO, NIST, or other certification bodies? We help prepare you for an audit from these parties. Are you reading about hacking in the news and wondering if it might impact you? Although it is not possible to guarantee that you will never be broken into, certain preventive measures significantly reduce the risk. Founder Background
The founder of Öruggt Net ehf, Sigurður Gísli Bjarnason, has been in the computer industry since shortly after home computers came on the market and therefore has extensive experience to build on. He started using the internet around the year 1985, or a decade before the first browser was available. The first browser was not designed until 1993, when the Mosaic browser was designed at a university in the United States. Mosaic was then the basis for the first browser available on the market when Netscape Navigator was released in December 1994.
Our founder has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, which he completed in 1994, and an MS degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance, which he completed in 2019. Both of these degrees are from universities in the United States, where he resided for 30 years and worked for companies such as Microsoft and T-Mobile US Inc.
